Norco Withdrawal

“A sudden discontinued supply of opiates will often cause unbearable withdrawal symptoms including irritability, profuse sweating, abdominal cramping and diarrhea,” states detoxification anesthesiologist, Dr. Clifford A. Bernstein, M.D. “This agonizing withdrawal is the reason most of those with dependencies cannot stop taking the drugs.”

Withdrawal refers to the common symptoms that occur when a narcotic medication has suddenly been discontinued—specifically, when it causes physical and/or psychological dependence after prolonged use. Signs may also appear after a decrease in dosage. Withdrawal is sometimes known as ‘abstinence syndrome’.

Norco is a hydrocodone-based, synthetic painkiller similar to opiate drugs. Norco is:

  • derived from opiate
  • as habit-forming as all narcotic medicine
  • may induce psychological and physical dependence of the morphine-type, and
  • provokes typical opiate withdrawal when stopped.

The potential for addiction to Norco varies from patient to patient.

Dependent patients who discontinue the drug will experience Norco withdrawal symptoms similar to those of narcotic opiate medication.

When discontinued abruptly, the effects of Norco withdrawal often include:

  • Aches and pains
  • Anxiety
  • Diarrhea
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Goose bumps (piloerection)
  • Hallucinations
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mood swings
  • Nausea
  • Pain
  • Rigors (fever chills)
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Sleep problems
  • Sweating
  • Tremors
  • Upper respiratory symptoms.

The acetaminophen component in compound Norco capsules enhances the narcotic effects of the hydrocodone component, and delivers no relief from Norco withdrawal.

Norco withdrawal may be transmitted to a newborn from a pregnant or nursing mother who takes this medication. Birth defects, other physical harm or organ damage may occur to the newborn.

Norco Withdrawal Detox

Norco withdrawal like that from any prescription medicine—especially opiate-based drugs— instigates a difficult, painful process. Norco withdrawal—like overdose—can cause circulatory collapse, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrest (affecting the lungs, heart, liver and kidneys).

Consult your physician before you stop, change, combine, increase, or adapt medications. Or, if you are considering detoxification.

Discontinuing Norco after prolonged use causes severe withdrawal symptoms. It should be done gradually and under a physician’s care. Health-compromised patients, from drug dependency, risk an agonizing or sometimes fatal withdrawal if not supervised by experienced medical specialists.

Safe, proven, and responsible detoxification combined with the latest anesthesiology can decrease the risk of Norco withdrawal. Choose your program with care. Conventional detoxification procedures may use older safety protocol that inflicts patients with an unnecessary, dangerous, and painful Norco withdrawal.

Norco Withdrawal and the Waismann Method

Norco withdrawal is avoidable, and Norco dependency is both treatable and reversible.

The Waismann Method of Rapid Detoxification Under Anesthesia has set the standard for rapid detox procedures, although some facilities may still use our outdated safety protocol. The Waismann Method offers an effective, dignified, safe and humane Norco detox procedure.
